Hunter and hiking clubs have done important volunteer work to build wildlife drinking troughs, clear trails & stock public land with bighorn sheep, elk or deer. Horse and photo enthusiasts are ready to do the same – and more – in partnership with casinos, hotels, tour companies, airlines, restaurants, and local government through the SPRING MOUNTAIN ALLIANCE.
Creating Wild Horse & Burro Tours on Nevada’s public lands falls in with President Obama’s 2011 request for private enterprise to help with America’s Great Outdoors initiative, an attempt to reshape U.S. conservation policy when the government is hard-pressed to afford new spending programs.
In October 2011, BLM director, Bob Abbey, challenged volunteer groups “to help manage and sustain wild horse herds”.
The SPRING MOUNTAIN ALLIANCE accepts that management challenge!
This non-profit organization of concerned citizens, businesses and professionals will:
1. Implement scientific, on-range programs to protect stable family bands of Wild Horses & Burros in the Spring Mountains, and
2. Provide prime opportunities to view free-roaming Wild Horses & Burros for future generations of tourists, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
The SPRING MOUNTAIN ALLIANCE wishes to work with the Bureau Land Management (BLM), US Forestry Service (USFS) and Nevada Wildlife personnel to create a new model for tourism and preservation.
We invite you to join the Spring Mountain Alliance –
Together we can build a new model for Wild Horse & Burro preservation in the West & bring more tourism jobs to beautiful Southern Nevada!
