SANDEE & FANCY

Fancy – brown with white spots pinto mare; born 1997; adopted 2005 from the Red Rock HMA (Horse Management Area); Tunnel Springs was her home range, southeast Spring Mountains.

Fancy is a year younger than her sister Daisy, who was adopted by Mary Sue.

Her father was a large bay stallion.  Severe drought was the reason that the wild horses were removed.

Sandee took Fancy from her first adopter who felt she had too many horses. Fancy was trained for 3 months in ground work by Judy Wangler, then Sandee finished the mounting and riding with ease within another 3 months. Fancy loves to please and do right far more than domestic horses. Sandee says she also really listens!

Fancy goes shoeless as the farrier says she has good feet.

Years after the sisters, Daisy & Fancy, were removed from the wild, they were reunited in Vegas. The affection was immediately evident. It was as if they had never been separated!

The Wild Horse Dilemma

In 2015-2016, BLM’s planned roundup will leave only 63 to 93 wild horses on 646,000 acres. How can a tour guide find 1 horse per 10,000 acres?
